The Luang Say Mekong cruises proposes here a one way journey over 3 days and 2 nights. Accommodation will be at the LuangSay Lodge in Pakbeng, and Kamu Lodge between Pak Beng and Luang Prabang.
You can choose to travel down river from Chiamg Khong / Houei Say (the Thai/Lao border) to Luang Prabang OR upriver from Luang Prabang to the Thai/Lao border at Houei Say.

Day 1: Houei Sai - Pakbeng (Lunch, Dinner)
Luang Say boat leaves slow boat pier at 9.30a.m. for cruising down the Mekong River to Luang Say Lodge in Pakbeng. One stop is made en route to Pakbeng to observe a rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy Phalam; a Kamu village. A buffet lunch is served on board. The boat arrives at Luang Say Lodge before sunset for an overnight stay and a dinner is served at terrace overlooking the Mekong River.
Day 2: Pakbeng - Kamu Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
A continental breakfast is served at terrace from 7a.m. The boat leaves Luang Say Lodge at 8a.m. for the second day trip and the first stop is at Ban Baw to observe the processing of the traditional rice alcohol. A buffet lunch is served on board. Then, the boat arrives at Kamu Lodge around 2p.m. so you will be able to check in and participate in different activities; visiting Kamu village, archery contest, rice planting and harvesting, traditional fishing and gold panning (January to June). A set menu dinner is served at the opened air restaurant and you stay an overnight at Kamu Lodge.
Day 3: Kamu Lodge – Pak Ou – Luang Prabang (Breakfast, Lunch)
A continental breakfast is served at the restaurant from 7a.m. Kamu boat leaves at 8a.m. and stops opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River to visit Pak Ou caves where there are two caves ‘Tham Ting’ and ‘Tham Phoum’ and thousands of Buddha images are found. The boat arrives in Luang Prabang (a UNESCO world heritage city) before lunch. A set menu lunch is served at a local restaurant.

From 1-31 May 2014 and 1 July 14 to 30 Sep 14, and the cruise departs every Tuesday and Friday.
Day 1 : Luang Prabang - Pak Ou - Kamu Lodge (Lunch, Dinner)
Kamu boat leaves Kamu pier at 9a.m. for cruising up the Mekong River to Kamu Lodge. The boat first stops opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River to visit Pak Ou caves where there are two caves ‘Tham Ting’ and ‘Tham Phoum’ and thousands of Buddha images are found. Then, the boat arrives at Kamu Lodge so you will be able to check in and have lunch at the opened air restaurant. A continental breakfast is served at the restaurant from 7a.m. After relaxing yourself, Luang Say boat picks you up around 10a.m.-11a.m. for cruising up to Pakbeng. A buffet lunch is served on board and the next stop is at Ban Baw to observe the processing of the traditional rice alcohol. The boat arrives at Luang Say Lodge before sunset for an overnight stay and a dinner is served at terrace overlooking the Mekong River.
Day 3: Pakbeng - Houei Sai (Breakfast, Lunch)
A continental breakfast is served at terrace from 6a.m. The boat leaves Luang Say Lodge at 7a.m. One stop is made en route to Houei Sai to observe a rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy Phalam; a Kamu village. A buffet lunch is served on board. The boat arrives at slow boat pier in Houei Sai before 5p.m. (You may continue your journey to Chiang Rai, Thailand the same day.)
(*)From November to February, on our upstream (Luang Prabang to Houei Say) itinerary, we are sometimes unable to fit a visit to the whiskey village. We apologise for this but as it can be foggy in the mornings, and getting dark early, we need to ensure the safety of our passengers to get to the LuangSay Lodge during daylight

For safety reasons and according to weather conditions or water level of The Mekong River,
substitute program to cruises either upstream or downstream will be implemented without prior notice.
Please Note
- Luang Say Cruise Downstream departs from slow boat pier in Houei Sai at 9a.m. so please be at Luang Say office in Houei Sai (next to Laos immigration) by 8.30a.m. at the latest.
- For Luang Say Cruise Upstream, Kamu boat departs at 9a.m. from Kamu Lodge pier in Luang Prabang, please be at the pier by 8.45a.m. at the latest.
- For Luang Say Cruise Downstream, a luggage tag will be given at Chiang Khong (Thailand border).
- Please bring a jersey or a jacket as it can be cool at Luang Say Lodge and on the boat during October to February.
- It is possible to leave your suitcase and luggage on the boat and take only a small daypack with changing clothes. This is an advisory as the steps to Luang Say Lodge are quite steep.
- Please fully charge your electronic equipments as there is no plug available at Kamu Lodge.
- For safety reasons and according to weather conditions, the program may be changed without prior notice.
